About the Artist
ALAN WINTER, aka WiNTERBOY
I’m an emerging artist currently living and working in Austin, TX. I paint primarily in oils, blending natural themes and dream imagery.
A famous artist once said, “Art isn’t about reproducing reality, but creating a new reality.” My art is driven by odd or fantastical things I find in nature. I prowl American roadways with my camera, hunting for bold color or light contrasts, strange shapes or things that look like other things, intriguing visual stories — and lots of trees! It can take a thousand photos to trigger one painting, and even I don’t know where the painting’s going to end up once I start it.
